Ann Baker's Story

Ann says... “I became aware of the support that LACoST Services offer after being informed by Bernadette Sullivan the Progression Officer."

Having left school more than 40 years ago, I felt insecure about returning to education, but after a few weeks I eventually made an appointment for an assessment. At the interview Bernadette and I discussed various options available to me and I agreed to do National Tests in Literacy and Numeracy. At the same time we had spoken about an idea I had for setting up my own cleaning business.

After completing Level 1 Literacy Bernadette referred me to ‘Banking on Shadwell’ and arranged for me to meet with a Business mentor from Deutsche Bank.

Doing the courses have increased my confidence and I am now interested in learning other courses such as ECDL to enable me to gain a position in an office environment.  This is because if the business idea does not come to fruition, I would have the necessary computer skills to progress” for myself.
